Churrasco!
OPA FAMILIA!!! Como va?It's been a pretty good week here in Intercap!!
Not much new really happened besides I had my first exchange overnighter with Elder Monico which was probably one of the best days on my mission because I got to see a whole new area which was so fun because it's something other than the copy and paste days that have been happening. Also he doesn't speak English and has only been out for a month more than me and is from Argentina so he is still learning Portuguese, which was challenging but apparently I know a lot more Portuguese than I thought.
One sad thing about this week is my trainer found out he has to go home because his knees are absolutely messed up from our area in the mountains so now he has to go home for 3-5 months. The funny thing is when he gets back I will go home before my trainer which is actually wild to think about.
I had my first Brazilian Churrasco (BBQ), which was flipping phenomenal, like way better than America. They cook it over an open fire on a spit. It was amazing because it felt most like home with every sitting around the fire and just having fun.
We are actually finding a little bit more success. We have a baptismal dates for the next 3 Sundays so pray all of those happen. Everyone wants to listen to us but the hard thing is when we invite them to do basically nothing they basically say “I am holding the pole on that one” (iykyk). So basically they are all just lazy.
Spiritual thought
I have been reading in Mosiah this week and my favorite verse is
Mosiah 23:21 Nevertheless the Lord seeth fit to chasten his people; yea, he trieth their patience and their faith.
When we are going through hard times I
would say most of the time they aren't our fault. But instead of only thinking “Why me” we need to be looking for things we can do to improve ourselves through this trial just like our physical muscles our spiritual strength needs trials and strain for it to build and strength. Nothing good has ever come from self pity. God will never give you more than you can handle. Christ will always be in your corner no matter what you are going though.
Your emails really do make my week and I will try to respond to everyone as fast as I can. I love you all and are keeping you in my prayers so I wouldn't mind if you kept me in yours!
Love ya
🤙Elder Cox
